Corona Virus Disease : Prevention And Care At Home

What is COVID-19?

Coronavirus disease 2019 is a contagious disease caused by a Virus, the Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. The first known case was identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019. The disease quickly spread worldwide, resulting in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Most of common Symptoms :

  • come to fever
  • come to cough
  • come to tiredness
  • loss of taste or smell

Less common Symptoms :

  • sore throat
  • headache
  • aches and pains
  • diarrhea
  •  rash on the skin, or discoloration of fingers or toes
  • red or irritated eyes

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) approved these types of tests for diagnosing COVID-19:

RT-PCR test report.

  • Also called a molecular test, this COVID-19 test detects the Virus's genetic material using a lab technique called reverse transcription polymerase Chain reaction (RT-PCR).
  • A health care professional collects a fluid Sample by inserting a Longswab into the back of your throat (oropharyngeal swab). Or you may spit into a tube to produce a Saliva Sample.
  • If Sent to an outside lab, results may be available in minutes if analyzed onsite in 1 to 3 days — or Longer in locations with test processing delays. RT-PCR tests are very accurate when adequately performed by a health care professional, but the rapid test can miss some cases.

Antigen test.

  • This COVID-19 test detects specific proteins in the Virus. Some Antigen Tests can produce results in minutes using a Longnasal swab to get a fluid Sample; others may be sent to a lab for analysis.
  • A positive Antigen Test result.

An RT-PCR test called the Flu SC2 Multiplex Assay can detect any of three Viruses simultaneously:

The COVID-19 Virus, influenza A & influenza B (flu). Only a single sample is needed to check for all three Viruses, which could be helpful during the flu Season. But a negative result does not rule out the possibility of any of these infections. So the testing process may include more steps, depending on Symptoms, possible exposures & your provider's clinical judgment.
