Should You Consider Toric Soft Contact Lenses?

Should You Consider Toric Soft Contact Lenses?

Contact Lenses comes in two types, prescription and non-prescription lenses. Its main purpose is to enhance a person impaired vision by being placed directly onto the cornea.  Similar to glasses contact lenses bend the rays of light through a lens so that those rays can then be focused by the eye to a pin point on the retina, giving you sharper vision. A person’s vision impairment is unique and will require a specific corrective lens (prescription) to see properly. If you have a vision problem you have 2 options to improve your eyesight, they are glasses or contact lenses.

A lot of people still prefer to wear glasses as they a generally easier to use. On the flip side there are also a lot of people who use contact lenses as they are practically invisible. There are many good products on the market today but if you’re after a dual focus lens then Toric soft contact lenses are simply the best. These lenses are made from the same material as regular sperical lenses, and the lens itself has two different powers to it. Due to these two powers, when the lens is in use it mustn’t be allowed to move around on the cornea or else the usefulness of the lens will be non existent. On the other hand if you would prefer a lens that did not move at all, consider Gas Permeable lenses. These spherical lenses are more rigid and will retain their shape on the cornea better than soft contacts. An advantage of GP Lenses is that if you suffer from an astigmatism, they will give you a crisper image.

Toric soft contact lenses do come at a price though. This is because the time and expertise required to produce these lenses is quite large. Due to this extra work needed, Toric soft contact lenses cost more than your everyday lens. This is when you have to decide whether to go with regular GP lenses or to dig deeper into your wallet and go with the Torics.

When Purchasing contact lens make sure you shop around, both online and offline to find the best prices. Lenses are not like glasses, they don’t last years as they are perishable and need to be replaced frequently. As you can imagine if you purchase them from a more expensive source, over the years to come it will cost you a lot more. So make sure you get the best price from day one, and always keep an eye out for a better price if one arises.
