Do You Think You Are Healthy?

Are you concerned about your health? Have you been questioning yourself as to whether you have been eating right? Do you worry about diseases that can crop up later in life? Have you been caring for yourself properly?

The answers to these quite sensible questions could affect you for the rest of your life.

You have to care for yourself. If you don’t, no one else will. Visiting the doctor when needed, eating properly and getting exercise are after all, your responsibility. The most important thing you may have is your health. You should begin to take care of yourself now to make sure you can have a long healthy life.

The question is where to begin?

First, you could start with a food journal. Keep a record of all the things that you eat for a particular period of time. You could do it for just five or six days or even for as long as two weeks. This will enable you to look back at all of the food and drinks that you have consumed.

Based on what you see, you will be able to determine if you are eating healthily or not. If you haven’t been, you will easily be able to see where you have been going wrong. For instance, if you have a weakness for that snack machine at work, chances are you will need to cut out some of your sugar or carbohydrate intake.

A great place to begin is to start eating healthy. By eating right you will be able to prevent health-related diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and osteoporosis later in life. Now is the time to get started with your new healthy habits. The more time you put it off, the more you increase your chance of developing such diseases.

Don’t get tricked by the fads and myths regarding eating and food in general. There’s lots of false information about food out there. For example, eating chocolate causes acne. This is not true. If it were true then getting rid of acne would simply be achieved by eating no chocolate and you would be clear for life! The association between sugar and acne is a little more complex than that and so is the job of achieving no more acne.

That should not be interpreted as permission to seek out an “all you can eat” chocolate buffet! Eating in this way can lead to the development of other health problems like diabetes.

Next, you need to develop a healthy exercise regime.

The kind of exercise you do is not really that important. There are plenty of options. It may be simply taking the dog for a fast walk, taking up yoga or even cycling. The point is that on a regular basis physical activity has to be made part of your lifestyle. Perhaps you could exercise for an hour three times a week or maybe do 20 minutes five times per week. I am sure you get the idea.

To become healthier, you need to incorporate these two ideas into your day-to-day living. Eating right and developing an exercise program can help you to live a longer life and to reduce your chances of developing osteoporosis and heart disease.
