Removing Acne Scars

Acne Scar Removal

Acne Scars develop if acne becomes infected and the skin heals itself enough to remain healthy but unfortunately leaves pigmented and / or indented marks on the affected area, removing them is often both difficult and expensive to treat.

There are a lot of over the counter ‘cures’ for acne scars ranging from creams to micro needling. The most commonly used treatments for acne scars are the creams or skin masks which can (but not always) work but take a while for any improvements to begin to show as a large percentage of these creams don’t get absorbed by the skin. Creams are, therefore, wasted and so are not economical.

Another product that can be used to treat acne scars is the skin roller. This is a tool for skin needling; you simply roll the collagen roller over the scarred area of skin which opens the pores of your epidermis (top layer of skin) making it believe that it is damaged activating the production of collagen and elastin which heals the skin over time.

After using the derma roller the pores on the top layer of skin (epidermis) are enlarged for as long as so this is the best time to put on creams as they are much better absorbed when the pores are open as opposed to when the pores are closed. This reduces the waste in creams and heightens the effectiveness of the derma roller.

There are more extreme methods to remove acne scars however these are all expensive and have to be carried out by professionals and then they’re not even guaranteed to work! These include; Micro dermabrasion, laser treatments, chemical peals and also skin needling can be done by a professional more vigorously using a longer needle size and numbing cream.

In my experience in treating acne scars I have found that the most result effective and cost effective treatment is derma rolling at home as it is relatively cheap and as it works by inducing the healing process is the most natural way to heal acne scars.
